  • What is the problem this video will solve?

    • We need to justify actually making a video.

  • Who is the intended audience?

    • Your video needs to have a defined niche

  • How will your audience see your video?

    • Will they see it in an email? As a Instagram story? Landing page?

    • Think about the context and surroundings of the video as it plays.

  • What context will the viewer be in when they see the video?

    • Are they a captive audience?

    • How long do we honestly have their attention?

    • did you find them or did they find you?

  • What are the top three bullet points this video needs to communicate

  • How does this video need to integrate into your current promotional and branding assets?

  • What is the tone of the video?

    • Is it funny? serious? How are we going to use the tone to connect with your viewership?

  • What is the call to action?

    • We can only have one: what action do you want your viewers to take?

  • What is the shelf life of this video?

    • Is it headed for a 5 year voyage, or catered for a specific event or campaign?

    • Branding changes faster than than the wind these days; be realistic and make sure the investment justifies the longevity.

  • What is your budget?

    • Even if you have no idea, we have to start somewhere.

    • Do we need a high production value?

    • Think about your audience, because viewers will associate the quality of the video with the quality of your company/product

  • What is your timeframe?

  • Does the video need to fit an existing aesthetic / visual branding / style guidelines? Do you have style guidelines / brand voice already established?
